“Snowflakes Have Gone Too Far…”

A common thing that has been said about our generation is that “snowflakes have gone too far.” I think those words have a level of truth to them but are not followed by the whole story.

Snowflake according to our loyal Wikipedia is “…derogatory slang term for a person, implying that they have an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, or are overly-emotional, easily offended, and unable to deal with opposing opinions.”

When I say I agree to a certain extent…I mean that the way people express and act based on their ideals, needs, and goals for the future can be aggressive, extreme, and at times unreasonable. To a point, people expect the world as a whole to cater to each gender, belief, personal need, etc. of each individual human. While I believe each gender, belief, and personal, etc. need of each individual human should be RESPECTED and TOLERATED to a certain extent, (OBVIOUSLY NOT TRULY EVIL THINGS EX: RAPE, MURDER, ETC. BAD STUFF YOU GUYS) it is practically impossible to be able to contort to every single persons ideals and needs.

HOWEVER, this is where I disagree. They people saying these words throw the baby out with the bathwater. I think the real issue gets dismissed if a persons solution to said issue is extreme. Let me explain. The term “snowflake” get’s thrown around usually when someone is “Over-emotional” or “over-reactive” to a situation based on their feelings.

On one side: people need to learn to grow up and handle things rationally…not just throw a fit. Fair.

HOWEVER, there is a reason they are over reactive…and in reality the other side has been acting like this forever…white people having a mental breakdown if black people used the front door…people with different believes having a mental breakdown if a man kisses his partner James…people who eat meat having a mental breakdown when vegans mention a fact that is true, but horrific…

The point? People are just fighting back against the oppression or issues…with the way they have been taught how to deal with the issues. But for some reason when the script is flipped they are weak and considered snowflakes. Gerald, you just lost your mind that someone believes in global warming. Gerald…calm down…it’s a thing. (If a Gerald is reading this…it was just a random name I picked I am sorry.)

The snowflakes need to grow up and learn how to handle things properly…and maybe understand that the whole world won’t bow down to them as they bring up real issues. Everybody else…needs to grow up and realize issues are real and need to be dealt with…and maybe respectful of people even if they believe or act differently than them.

Am I right? I don’t know I am just one person. Can you change my mind…maybe! I am always open to learning more and taking people’s opinions into consideration.
