(This post didn’t go up on Friday as it was scheduled to…and I didn’t notice the mistake until now. Enjoy.)
Happy Friday everyone! It is the end of January which means that I have some books that I have read! If you say my post New Year’s Resolutions 2020 you saw that I was wanting to get back in the habit of reading daily and wanted to get through at least one book a month. While I haven’t quite gotten into the daily habit…I did get through two books. So without further ado…
Books I Read in January 2020
1.Hunger Games By: Suzanne Collins
I know an oldie, but a goodie. I rate the book 4/5 stars. I read this series back when I was in middle school and I enjoyed it just as much…if not more now that I am older and understand the concepts that Suzanne was trying to portray through her writing a bit more.
I didn’t give it a full five stars….just because I felt that the writing is a tad lazy at times, however, that is just nit picking. Even though the hype is over, and the movies have come and gone…if you haven’t read these books I would still highly recommend you pick up the books. They are a hundred times more meaningful and worth your time than the movies were…and I think we could all use a…thoughtful reminder about the power of government vs the power of the people.
2. Catching Fire By: Suzanne Collins
Yep. The second book of the Hunger Games trilogy. The review is very similar to the above. Same rating: 4/5 stars. This book, in my opinion, is interesting in a different sense to me. While her writing still focuses on the power play between the government and the people (main point, really)…she focuses on Katniss’s feelings for Gale and Peeta a bit more…and I found myself reinvested in the drama…but also more annoyed.
But that is just part of being a bit older and not as into teenage love triangles. Good job Suzanne for entertaining me during two very different stages of my life. Again, recommend as a good read.
If you want to get the book series for yourself here is a link to The Hunger Games on Amazon.
I am currently about 2/3 of the way through Mocking Jay (3rd book) so that will for sure be in the February Book reviews. As for now, that is all I have for you! I wish you all a wonderful night and a future of plentiful good reads!
